Greetings from the Little Current Yacht Club!
Sailing Season is upon us, so I thought I’d give everyone a heads up with what will be going on at each location.
In case you’ve never sailed with us before, this email is for you! In Little Current, we sail out of Low Island Park, and use the pavilion there as home base.
How the day will go:
8:30 to 9am is drop off time, parents can sign in kids (or they can come alone if they have permission!) This is also a good time to chat with instructors too.
9-12 will be lesson time and sailing time
12-12:30 or 1 is lunch time, kids should be sent with lunches for the day - and yes, both instructors stick around to supervise :)
Then 1-4 is more sailing and lessons
4-4:30 is pickup time!
On to what to bring:
- A transport canada approved PFD (ie in good condition) We do have some that we can bring to this venue, just give us a heads up if your child needs one!
- Change of clothes (we are in the water sometimes and do sometimes sail on cooler days) Wetsuits, moisture wicking gear etc is always a good idea
- A towel
- Lots of water or a water bottle to refill at the pavilion
- Lunch and snacks for snack breaks!
- Close toed shoes that can get wet - handy for walking in the mud when we launch the boats
- Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen!
Rain days
No need to make other arrangements on the day of, Instructors will still have lots of other on land lessons and activities! We have an indoor space available at the town office
Worth noting - Not everyone will receive a level, since it normally takes 2 weeks to complete a CANSail course. Some will do well and earn their levels, others might need some extra practice. Don’t worry though, everyone heads home with a certificate one way or another, we have levels to award for those who come out and sail called I CANSAIL.
I think I’ve talked enough now, but if there are any questions feel free to reach out to this email or give me a call at 705 210 0676 and I’ll try to get back to you!
Looking forward to an awesome summer!
